Mission

Changing the people who change the world, the Doctor of Ministry (DMin) Family Ministry building Concentration prepares men and women to fulfill the didactics and discipling mandates of the gospel commission as they impact families positively for the Kingdom.

The DMin Family Ministry Concentration prepares an individual for a proactive ministry building of preaching, educational activity, and working with groups to develop the positive family unit and relationship skills needed in today'due south civilisation. It is designed to promote pastoral excellence by attention to the (ane) pastor's personal life, (2) the pastor's own family, (three) families in the congregation, and (4) the congregation as a family.

Concentration Goals

Upon completing this program, you lot will be able to:

Competencies

The DMin Family Ministry Concentration seeks to create competency in 4 areas:

  1. Family Life Teaching - Participants acquire knowledge of the various topic areas related to the field of family life education and explore current problems and empirical findings related to this area of study.
  2. Spiritual, Theological, and Personal Evolution - Participants reverberate theologically on the lived feel of families, get aware of their personal strengths and limitations, realize the impact cocky-sensation and cocky-agreement have on ministry, and seek to integrate their expanding spiritual and theological perspectives into their personal germination as individuals and members of families.
  3. Research and Praxis - Participants larn and acquire basic research skills pertinent to their practice in the field of family life instruction and family ministry building inside the context of church and community. Based on electric current enquiry, students develop and deploy a relevant, field-based project intentionally addressing family ministry in the local context.
  4. Professional Family unit Ministry - Participants gain knowledge of the professional family unit ministry constructs and acquire ministry skills pertinent to the practice of family life educational activity and enrichment  within the context of ministry.
Learning Modalities

The following learning modalities volition be included in the concentration'due south instruction:

  1. Module Intensives - Participants will attend intensives (each approximately two weeks in length) led past top educators and experts in family ministry building and family life education that provide didactic and experiential learning experiences. Pre-and post-intensive assignments include assigned textbook reading, reflective journaling, and preparation of papers that will class capacity of the participant's project document.
  2. Ministry Evolution Program (MDP) - Each participant will fix a plan for their development personally (including spiritually), relationally, and professionally along with a detailed description of what will be involved in the completion of the specific concentration. The MDP is comprised of 4 sections: a description of the participant's current situation, their vision for their life and ministry following the programme, the steps they propose to movement in the direction of that vision during their programme and a listing of the helping as well as hindering forces.
  3. Learning Groups - Each participant will become role of a pocket-size work grouping (three-7 individuals each of whom is part of the concentration cohort) which meets on a regular basis (every bit assigned--usually twice per year) to fulfill specific assignments. Work groups provide a forum for participants to co-investigate principles of Christian ministry in a collegial, supportive environs. Meetings may be held by teleconference.
  4. Context Support Groups - Each participant will select and invite v-7 persons within their ministry building context to serve on their context support group. The Cohort Experience

The plan is delivered in the accomplice model, wherein participants proceed through the sequence of courses together.   4. DSRE748 - Family unit Dynamics and Sexuality
    Credits: 5
    This module addresses ministry building to families based on an agreement of family systems, the family life cycle, human relationship processes, and human sexuality.
  5. DSRE749 - Family every bit a Middle for Discipleship
    Credits: 5
    Considers the mission of the domicile to foster discipleship--within the matrimony relationship and in the parenting of children, with the wider family circle of relatives, and with friends and neighbors in the community. Students taking the Chaplaincy ACPE Certified Educator pick must successfully complete the competency-based professional portfolio according to the guidelines outlined in the ACPE Certification Manual.
